Nite, Gen MacArthur's plane "Bataan" taxies to a halt at Idlewild Airport as an excited commentator of radio station WNYC describes its landing and the events that follow. Escorted by an officer, Mrs MacArtyhur her son, and Gen MacArther leave the plane to be greeted by a mob of military and civilian dignitaries. These include Mayor Impellitteri of New York, his wife, and Grover Whalen. The Army officers present are unidentified. Gen MacArthur is promised one of the "biggest and best parades NYC ever witnessed" by Impellitteri in his welcoming speech. Gen Macarthur in a brief speech gives his thanks for the welcome. Mrs MacArthur and her son say a few words. The group walks off to a formation of honor guards where MacArthur and other officers troop the line. The general enters an open top limousine and is driven away.

General of the Army Douglas MacArthur (26 January 1880 – 5 April 1964) was an American five-star general and Field Marshal of the Philippine Army. He was Chief of Staff of the United States Army during the 1930s and played a prominent role in the Pacific theater during World War II. He received the Medal of Honor for his service in the Philippines campaign, which made him and his father Arthur MacArthur Jr. the first father and son to be awarded the medal.
